As was mentioned elsewhere in this bulletin, the Wicks pipe organ is going to installed, beginning August 15th. It is a tedious task because of all the pieces, large and tiny, that have to be disassembled, transported, and reassembled. However, we have the original builder of the organ doing the work and we have been assured that it will be in place before Bazaar time.
The choir loft is finished, except for the final polyurethane finish on the floor. Bill Malek has all the pickets for the railing completed and all have been hand painted by his better half, Laveta. You might notice the railing going up the circular stair. It's Bill and Laveta's design, composed of the musical notations of: 1. Glory to God in the highest' (direct/front) & "Holy, Holy, Holy' (to the right). The Floor in the choir loft is red oak, stained the color of the stair.
The flooring for the body of the church (red oak, to be stained the color of the stair) and the flooring of the Sanctuary (Brazilian cherry) have arrived and are being acclimatized in the space. The flooring is scheduled to be installed around the 8th of Auguse. Many thanks to the Men's Club of St. Mary for generously donating the floor of the Sanctuary.
So many have been generous in supporting the restoration of what is not only our treasure, but also a treasure for the Archdiocese and the State of Texas. THERE ARE STILL AREAS THAT NEED DONORS TO HELP DEFRAY THE COST OF THE RESTORATION. The is an opportunity of a lifetime to memoriatize your family or loved one. Memorial plaques are being designed and hopefully will be in place by Bazaar. Future generations will know the love and care that has gone into restoring the beauty of this church.
