Hurrican Ike News
September 2008
September 18, 2008 8:00 AM update - The power is back on and the office is open.
Our church buildings survived the hurricane without any real damage, just a few downed tree limbs. As of September 17th, there is still no electricity at either church. Father Ed stated that he is doing fine and has not missed a scheduled Mass. Father Kelley is doing well in his fancy new home with the help of a generator.
The regular scheduled Masses will be celebrated this Saturday and Sunday (September 20 and 21) with or without electricity.
Entergy states that electricity should be restored in Navasota by Monday the 22th but we are all hoping that it will be sooner at the church.

A note received by email from Francell Busa
We. along with many in the area, are without power (I have my little laptop with broadband internet). We are living in our camper over at one of the barns that still has power so we are doing o.k.
We tried running a generator to keep food in the freezers running but gave up since we had to go up to Bryan-College Station to get gas to run it which is a hassle. Relatives who still have power took our food in to save it so now our house is completely closed down.
Our diaconate class is sending in reports by email and keeping in contact. I thought you might be online and could scout around and post news of how conditions are around the area (and, particularly, how our parishioners are coping). Pictures would be nice, too.
Thank you, Francell
