AND NOW A WORD FROM YOUR PASTOR...
Some of my fellow priests remark to me that it must be wonderful to be pastor of a small country parish, even though it is two churches. They have parishes much larger, sometime's composed of 1500 or more families. I truthfully respond that it is indeed wonderful being pastor of a smaller community, though often we have the same obstacles to overcome as do the larger churches. Every church struggles to be personal, people knowing each other and interacting with one another as a family. We hear those words so often: 'family', 'brothers and sisters. Yet, feeling oneself as part of that family can be very difficult unless steps are taken to bridge the gap between individuals and groups. In a mega-parish it is nearly impossible. In a smaller situation as ours, it is possible to at least have the opportunity of knowing a larger segment of parish life than our own immediate circle. As pastor of a smaller parish community such as ours, as time goes by I am privileged to be able to put many husbands together with wives, many parents with their children, and often grandparents with their grandchildren. As with all things worthwhile, it takes effort and a certain degree of being familiar with the face and placing a name to it or knowing a name and eventually identifying it with a face. It takes concentration and an appreciation of how important it is not to be an anonymous group who occupies a building on weekends.
A New Addition To Our Church Garden
St. Therese of Lisieux, The Little Flower
You might notice a new addition to St. Mary's Church garden. It is the statue of St. Therese of the Child Jesus. It is dedicated in memory of George and Florine Bachmeyer by their children: Marlene Smith, Karen Locke, and Gary & Lonnie Bechmeyer, who were generous in contributing to the landscaping of the church grounds. We are searching records to recognize additional donors. Please inform the office if you or your family gave toward making coming to church such a beautiful experience. Special thanks to Roy Klause for providing the setting of a rose garden for "St. Therese, the Little Flower.
A Generous Neighbor, Indeed!
You may have noticed the addition of "new Wheels" around St. Mary's. Mr. Ronald Harrell, a neighbor down the road, has donated an EZ Go golf cart to buzz around the grounds. It will come in handy hauling both material and personnel. Bridget, our elderly (9 1/2 years) parish beagle, has already claimed disability and insists on being chauffeured around. She particularly, as well as all of us, thank Mr. Harrell for thinking of us and being so generous.

The Cemetery Association News
We have decided to choose two days per year in which the cemetery will get a good cleaning. These days will be the first Saturday of Lent and the first Saturday of October. Please keep in mind that all old and out of season flowers will be removed and discarded. For safety and maintenance reasons, all glass and statuary will be removed. Some of these items have already been removed and placed under the tree outside of the cemetery. Please take them home for any unclaimed items will be thrown away. Therefore, March 4th and October 7th are the days for 2006.
Please feel free to come and help clean up on those days. The clean up will start at 9:00 am.
